Best wheel specs for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe
In 2010 it debuted in the North American market. But at this point, the Gencoupe was a little late to the party. The 350z, now 370z, had been around for 7 years. Why compare the two? Well, Hyundai very much positioned their car against the Z. Both are rear wheel drive, sporty, come in 6-speed, similar weight, similar MSRP, and the Hyundai also comes with a v6 - a little larger and more powerful than the Z’s. You can even mix and match wheels between the two - although you probably shouldn’t, more on this soon.
Both cars have all the ingredients for a good track car, particularly a drift car. In fact, the Z was our #1 pick for a beginner drifter, with the Genesis being a close second, mostly based on price. But with Gencoupes becoming ever more affordable, they could become the most popular choice for drift. Hey, they even have the option of a 2.0T.
Whether you wanna build a drift car, daily driver, show car or something else, you’re probably looking to ditch those factory wheels. But what aftermarket wheels should you go with? We’ll break them down by common sizes and applications.
We’ll look at aftermarket wheel options for all years of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. This ranges from 2008 to 2016, BK1 and BK2. Get some inspiration for your own build and or learn what specs fit.

Factory Genesis Coupe wheel specs
For starters: what are the specs of the factory wheels on the Genesis Coupe? The non-track edition BK1 came with 18x7.5 +33 in the front and 18x8.0 +33 in the rear; while the track edition came with 19x8.0 +35 front and 19x8.5 +35 rear. The BK2 has almost identical specs for both the track and non-track. Widths are exactly the same with +/- a few millimeters of offset; there’s no significant difference in fitment between BK1 and BK2. However, the designs are slightly different.
So, what can we take away from this? All OEM wheel setups are staggered from the factory rather than squared. Also, Models with Brembos (Track and R-spec) get 19-inch wheels while everything else gets 18s. But this doesn’t mean 18-inch wheels won’t fit the track and R-spec. Some models of 18s, and even 17s, can fit over Brembo brakes, examples below.
Recommended aftermarket Genesis Coupe wheel specs
Normally, factory-size wheels are a little petite. But the Gencoupe is special. Hyundai put decent-sized wheels on it (at least diameter). The most common sizes of aftermarket wheels stick to factory diameters, 18 to 19 inches. Those feeling a bit more adventurous might opt for 20-inch wheels. While it’s possible to go down to 17-inch wheels, we don’t recommend it, and there are very few 17s that clear Brembos.
So, 18 to 20-inch diameter. Typical widths and offsets in the front range from 7.5 to 11”, 0 to 45 offset. In the rear you’ll see 8 to 12”, 0 to 45 offset. Most wheel configurations remain staggered, although square is possible.
If you know 350z/370z fitment, these numbers may sound familiar; both OEM and aftermarket. On top of the other similarities, wheel fitment is also pretty close. They even share the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern.
Factory 350z wheels on a Genesis
What about running factory Z wheels on my Genesis? Will it work? Yes, they’ll clear the factory shocks and Brembos. The only difference is 1mm in center bore - marginal.
But should you do it? Tbh the specs kinda suck, and isn’t better fitment the point? Some of the Z wheels are wider, sure, but have higher offset = less aggressive fitment.
If you’re gonna go this route, we’d at least recommend some spacers. Maybe 10-25mm. And don’t run Nissan center caps. Be proud of your KDM whip!
18-inch aftermarket wheels for the Genesis Coupe
When going to aftermarket wheels, the most popular choice of diameter is 19-inch, but 18-inch is a close second. Even if your car came with 19s, this doesn’t mean you have to stay with 19-inch and up; there are plenty of 18-inch wheels that will fit factory Brembos.

Notes | Square setup @ stock ride height, no rubbing. |
As we can see, 18” Avid1 AV20 wheels fit this 2010 3.8 Track Edition Gencoupe without spacers. This is a very simple, daily driven, close-to-stock fitment. This is a square setup, in addition to being downsized 19 to 18”. The exact specs of the wheels are 18x8.5 et33 all around. They are wrapped in Pirelli PZERO 235/45r18.

Notes | Lowered. Square setup. Slight fender roll |
If you’re after OEM+ fitment, this could be for you. This BK1 2.0T R-Spec has Brembos and a square setup, like the previous - but with slightly more aggressive fitment. The specs are 18x9.5 +22 all around with225/40 tires in the front, 245/40 rears. With this combination of fitment and ride height, you can expect a slight fender roll to prevent rubbing, but nothing crazy. The wheels are Anovia Night Deco Directional.
Okay, now we're gonna get into some more aggressive stuff. If you’re looking to avoid coilovers, rolling/pulling fenders, camber, etc, then this is where you’ll wanna stop. But for those looking for flush or stance fitment, we have an example for you.

Notes | BC Racing Coilvers. Fender liners removed, fenders rolled. |
This 2013 BK2 3.8 Base is rocking some Heritage Kokoro MonoC’s. We are still looking at 18s here but these are more aggressive - 18x8.5 +35 in the front and 18x9.5 +22 in the rear. Why does it look more flush than the others? This car has 15mm spacers in the front and 3mm in the rear. Effective offsets are +20 front and +19 rear. The tires are Delta Grand Prix Tour - 215/40zr18 front and 225/45zr18 rear. This car is static on BC Racing coilovers to achieve this drop. At this height, the fender liners needed to be removed.

Notes | Widebody with coilovers. Fully adjustable suspension arms. See more details here |
We needed at least one widebody Gencoupe. This one is bout as wide as they come - the Work Meister S1 3P wheels are spec’d at 18x11 -28 in the front, while the rear is even wider: 18x13 -33. The Nitto NT01 tires are well-stretched at 255/40 in the front and 305/35 rear. Despite the overfenders, stretched tires and camber, there’s still a bit of poke. This car is on coilovers suspension. At full lock there is a bit of tire-to-fender contact.
This example comes from our gallery. We got all kinds of fitment there: widebody, flush, OEM+, static, bagged, you name it. Check out all the details and feel free to add your ride.

19-inch aftermarket wheels for the Genesis Coupe
The most popular size for the Gencoupe is 19-inch wheels. Just because you get 19s, doesn’t guarantee they clear factory Brembos without a spacer. You will need to check with the wheel manufacturer, but we found a few that work for sure.

SSR Professor M1 3PCfit a 3.8 Track Coupe, as we can see here. The specs are 19x9.5 +37 in the front and 19x10.5 +30 in the rear. Not super aggressive offsets, but fairly wide. Wide enough to hold some meaty tires - Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 225/40/19 front and 255/35/19 rear.

Notes | Coilovers w/ stiff spring rates. |
Here’s another 19-inch setup. This 2014 3.8 R-Spec BK2 also has a staggered setup with Brembo brakes. The wheels are even the same widths, 9.5/10.5J, but with lower offsets. Front: 19x9.5 et22 with a 245/35r19 tire, rear: 19x10.5 et22 with a 275/35/19 tire. The wheels are CS8 by ESR Wheels, originally black but painted a custom color; the tires are Firestone Indy 500. With fairly stiff spring rates, this car doesn't rub at this ride height.
20-inch aftermarket wheels for the Genesis Coupe
Do 20-inch wheels fit a Hyundai Genesis Coupe? Yes, but there are a few things to be mindful of. First, you will almost certainly need to ditch those fender liners. 20” rims, even with thin tires, will rub the factory inner fender. Second, 20s are heavy, so if performance is the goal, maybe look for a lightweight 18”.

But if you wanna go for 20s, here is what they look like. This 2010 2.0T GT is seen with ESM-004 wheels, 20x8.5 +25 in the front and 20x10 +25 in the rear. The tires are 255/35r20 front and 285/30r20 rear. This car has Brembos, and again, it’s not a given any 19+ inch wheel will fit these brakes, but these ESM wheels do.
Wrap up
In this guide, we hoped to cover the vast majority of Gencoupe users. We looked at aftermarket wheel options from 18 to 20-inches, OEM+ to widebody, Brembo and non-Brembo. If you’re building a Genesis drag car, which isn’t very common, you have one of the few good reasons to downsize rims. Otherwise, just go with an 18 to 20”.
